Adopted-Kona-4 1/2 yr old Female Shiba Inu-Atlanta

by Kathy Crandell on April 4, 2016

in Adopted Shibas

Adoption pending-Kona’s adoption fell thru as the adopters found out they are allergic to dog dander. Kona is back available! Kona is located near Atlanta, Ga and looking for a new home preferably with no small children. She is 4 1/2 years old and cream in color. Kona will be homed as an only animal. She is about 22 lbs and house trained. Kona is up to date on her vaccines and is spayed. She would make a great companion in most Shiba savvy households.

Please email us at apply@shibainurescueflorida.org for more information.

Y’all have had some great looking Shiba’s over the years but WOW, I have to say Kona is just gorgeous! That patented Shiba, purebred, aloofness is sooo evident even in the pics…lol.

Only dog? 🙁
Awww, now that’s a shame!!

Just my thought…but if previous housemate was larger than her, that may have been her problem.

My previous Shiba got nervous/twitchy/defensive
***awww look…shiba scary, grrr face…how cute***
around any breed bigger than himself but we lived w/two Dachs for over a decade and never had any issue. He would even let them eat first (steal), out of HIS bowl…lol.

He met many dogs over our 14 yr partnership, only problems I ever had w/him socially was when he felt trapped (butt sniffing herd at dog park surrounded him…my fault for not watching out for him) or my friends Great Dane, of which, once my pup saw the GD coming up the walkway, he wanted no part of. He did warn me of the intruder (One big bark, as if to say “Hey, see what’s coming…you deal with it”), then went to my bedroom and went to sleep.
Really miss him!

Shibas are a phenomenal breed and again, Kona is just beautiful. Hope she finds a home worthy of her 😉

Thanks Doug for all your insight… Kona has been living with an older Shiba since she was a puppy and has gotten increasingly more aggressive with the older Shiba. The owners are asking her to be rehomed to a home with no other dogs or young children. Since she is in Ga and not really our area we more of less must go by what the owner says with behavioral issues. We do not want to put anyone’s dog or children in danger.

Is Kona still available for adoption?

Kathy Crandell April 26, 2016 at 9:06 PM

The owner wants her to be adopted as an only dog. She doesn’t get along with her housemate.
