🌲🐕 **FROM THE FOREST TO THE FOREVER HOME!** 🐕🌲
Meet **Portia**, a little red Shiba girl who has already learned that life can be pretty tough — and now she’s ready to learn that life can also include **soft beds, regular meals, belly rubs, and a human who thinks she’s perfect.** ❤️
Portia was found **all alone in the forest** with no person or family anywhere around. The kind people who found her spent **over a month searching for her owner**, but unfortunately, no one ever came forward. 💔
She wasn’t microchipped, so we don’t know much about her past. But we’re pretty sure this little survivor has a story to tell… if only she could stop giving us that Shiba look long enough to tell it. 😏
### 🐾 PORTIA’S STATS:
🎂 Approximately **2–3 years old**
⚖️ About **23 lbs**
🦮 Learning to walk nicely on a leash
🏡 **Mostly house trained**
💗 No aggression toward people
🍽️ Does **resource guard food with dogs**
👧 Her behavior around children is currently unknown
🐱 Her behavior around cats is currently unknown
💉 Not currently up to date on vaccines
✂️ Not yet spayed
But don’t worry — **Portia is getting the full rescue treatment!** She will be completely vetted before adoption, including getting her vaccines updated and being spayed. 🩺❤️
### 🍗 ABOUT THAT RESOURCE GUARDING…
Portia does have some resource guarding, particularly with food around other dogs. Given that she was found living out in the woods with no one caring for her, it’s very possible that she learned that **food was something you protected because you never knew when the next meal was coming.**
In other words, Portia may have spent some time in **Survival Mode**.
Now we’re hoping to introduce her to something called **Spoiled Shiba Mode.** 😌👑
She’ll need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to work with her and help her learn that food is plentiful, humans are trustworthy, and she no longer has to worry about where her next meal is coming from.
Portia is located in **Cape Coral, Florida** and is available on a **Foster-to-Adopt agreement** so we can make sure she finds the right forever family. 🏡💕
This girl has already gone from **“Nobody knows where I came from”** to **“I’m officially a Shiba Inu Rescue of Florida girl!”**
Now we just need to find the next chapter:
